Quick answer: Art for Awareness is a cause-based drawing contest open to residents of India aged 3 and above, across 18 grade-based categories. There's no entry fee — each edition is sponsor-funded. Every participant gets a digital Certificate of Participation, and winners in each category get a cash prize. Submissions for the World Environment Day 2026 edition close on 2 June 2026.

About the contest

1. What is Art for Awareness?

Art for Awareness is a cause-based drawing contest. Each edition rallies people around a social or environmental cause and turns their artwork into public awareness.

2. Is this a competition or a contest?

We run it as a contest, not a competition. The aim is to spread a message and recognise meaningful work, not to pit people against each other.

3. Who organises Art for Awareness?

It is an initiative by COMMUNITREE, which works on environmental action and community awareness.

4. Why does the contest exist?

To use drawing as a way to spark thought and action on causes that matter — starting with the environment.

5. How often is it held?

A new edition runs each month, with a fresh cause and theme every time.

6. Is it only for people in India?

Yes. Participation is open to residents of India aged 3 and above.

7. Where can I follow updates?

Follow our Instagram and website, where every theme, deadline, and result is announced.

Who can take part

8. Who can participate?

Any resident of India aged 3 and above. There are 18 grade-based categories so everyone is judged among peers.

9. Is there an age limit?

No upper limit. The categories run from LKG/UKG all the way to Senior Citizens.

10. Can young children join?

Yes. Children take part with a guardian's email and consent at submission.

11. Do I need to be a trained artist?

No. The contest welcomes every skill level — the idea and message matter as much as technique.

12. Can adults and senior citizens enter?

Yes. There are dedicated Adults (17+), Corporate, and Senior Citizens categories.

13. Can college students take part?

Yes, through the College category.

14. Can a parent submit on behalf of their child?

Yes, with guardian consent. The artwork and details must belong to the child.

Categories

15. What categories are there?

There are 18 grade-based categories: LKG/UKG, Class 1 through Class 12, College, Adults (17+), Corporate, and Senior Citizens.

16. How do I know which category I belong to?

Pick the one matching your current grade or life stage — your class for students, College, Adults (17+), Corporate, or Senior Citizens.

17. Why are categories grade-based?

So entries are judged fairly. A Class 3 student is only judged against other Class 3 students.

18. Can I enter a category above my grade?

Please enter your correct grade category so judging stays fair to everyone.

19. Is there a separate category for schools?

Schools take part through their students' grade categories, with a bulk-submission option for teachers.

20. What if my grade isn't listed?

The 18 categories cover every stage from LKG to Senior Citizens. If you're unsure, email us and we'll point you to the right one.

21. Are entries from different categories compared?

No. Each category is scored on its own, so winners are chosen within each group.

Cost & how it's funded

22. Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee to submit your artwork.

23. How is the contest funded then?

Each edition is supported by a sponsoring partner who funds prizes and running costs.

24. Are there any hidden charges?

No. Submitting an entry and receiving your participation certificate involve no charge.

25. Do schools pay to take part?

Students submit without an entry fee. Any school programme arrangements are handled directly with our team.

26. Will I ever be asked to pay to claim a prize or certificate?

No. We never ask participants to pay to receive a certificate or claim a prize. Treat any such request as suspicious and report it to us.

32. Can I still join after 2 June 2026?

That edition closes on 2 June, but a new edition with a new theme opens the following month.

Themes

33. How is each month's theme chosen?

Each edition centres on one cause, often tied to a meaningful date — for example the environment around World Environment Day.

34. Where do I find the current theme?

It's shown on the contest page and announced on our Instagram at launch.

35. Does my drawing have to match the theme?

Yes. Theme interpretation carries the most weight in judging, so staying on theme matters.

36. Can I interpret the theme freely?

Absolutely. Original, personal takes on the theme are encouraged.

37. Do past themes come back?

Important causes may be revisited, but each edition is judged as its own contest.

How to submit

38. How do I submit my drawing?

Fill the submission form on the contest page with your details and upload a clear photo or scan of your finished drawing.

39. What details do I need to provide?

Your name, grade or category, school, city, and state — plus the artwork itself. Guardian consent is needed for Class 1–12.

40. What file types can I upload?

Standard image files such as JPG and PNG work best.

41. Does my drawing need to be on paper?

No. Hand-drawn or digital work is welcome — just upload a clear image of the finished piece.

42. How do I photograph my drawing well?

Use bright, even daylight, shoot straight above the page to avoid distortion, and crop to just the artwork.

43. Will I get a confirmation after submitting?

Yes, you'll receive an acknowledgement. If it doesn't arrive, check spam or contact us.

44. Can I change my entry after submitting?

Before the deadline, email us and we'll help you update it. After judging starts, entries are locked.

45. Can I submit from my phone?

Yes. The form works on mobile — just upload the clearest photo you can take.

46. What if my upload keeps failing?

Try a smaller image, another browser, or a stronger connection. If it still fails, email your entry and details and we'll add it.

Artwork & media

47. What art media are accepted?

Every medium is welcome — pencil, crayon, watercolour, acrylic, oil, gouache, ink, charcoal, pastels, mixed media, and digital art.

48. Does my artwork need a caption?

No. Strong entries usually tell their story visually, without needing words.

49. Can I add a slogan to my drawing?

Yes, if it strengthens the message — but the artwork should still carry the idea on its own.

50. Is there a required size or paper?

Use whatever paper or canvas you like. Submit a clear photo of the finished work.

51. Can I submit a photo of a physical painting?

Yes. Photograph it in good light, straight-on, and crop to the artwork before uploading.

52. Will my entry be checked before judging?

Yes. Every entry is screened for appropriate content before it reaches the judges.

53. What artwork is not allowed?

Anything offensive, copied from someone else, or unrelated to the theme.

Judging

54. How are entries judged?

On four weighted criteria: Creativity & theme interpretation (40%), Composition & colour (25%), Technique & effort, age-appropriate (20%), and Emotional storytelling (15%).

55. Which criterion matters most?

Creativity and how well you interpret the theme, at 40% of the score.

56. Is technique judged by age?

Yes. Technique and effort are assessed in an age-appropriate way, so younger participants aren't held to adult standards.

57. Are all entries judged together?

No. Each grade category is judged separately, so you're only compared with peers in your category.

58. Who judges the entries?

A panel reviews entries against the published criteria. Judges have no commercial stake in the outcome.

59. Does neatness decide everything?

No. A simple but original, on-theme, emotionally strong drawing can score higher than a polished but generic one.

60. Will I get my individual scores?

Individual scores aren't shared, but the four criteria show exactly what judges look for.

61. What happens if two entries tie?

Tied entries get a tie-breaker review so the final ranking is fair.

62. When are results announced?
